Every day, undocumented workers are deported to Mexico from the United States without money, without food and without help. The Kino Border Initiative was set up in part to provide direct assistance to these men and women who find themselves in this desperate situation.

Through their twin facilities located near the Mariposa gate, the Initiative provides meals for recently deported migrants, as well as a shelter for women. Through interviews with members of the Initiative, volunteers, and recently deported migrants themselves, BorderBeat reporters Kristina Stevens and Christopher Kelly explore this vital service, and the divisive issue of immigration.
