A Semester to Remember

Stephen Deane, a senior majoring in communications at the University of Arizona, spent the Fall 2010 semester studying abroad in Nanjing, China. Deane's primary motivation for making the trip was his desire to graduate in four years. Despite being wary of the trip before the semester began, his eyes were opened to a completely new world - one that he may return to soon.
Deane is contemplating returning to China following graduation for work. He is currently in discussions with Abercrombie and Fitch, where his father works, about expanding the clothing chain to China. Though the position is not solidified yet, Deane said, "the thinking is with the new market opening, someone that's had some experience in China would be very valuable, not only a resource of people moving there, but with designs and business plans that work effectively in the area."
If the position does pull through, Deane is not sure how long he will have to live in China, but is excited about the possibility of returning.
"I'm excited to be able to relive through some of the exciting things from the past semester," Deane said, "I'm looking forward to work through the different cultures and the different aspects of life that people in China share that aren't present in United States. It's a great opportunity for me to become a more well-rounded person."
